For my part of the speech I will be talking about pre-screening. This involves having people take a survey which would be good to help someone determine if they have anxiety or not. Also it will help people learn about anxiety. UK has undergraduate students answer questions about sexual assault to prevent it. My group thinks that UK should have undergraduate students answer questions about anxiety disorders to help bring awareness to it. Having people answer questions about it could help some people. It could help someone realize they have anxiety and could possibly help them with getting help. With pre-screening, this could help a person with anxiety, but also help the friends and family. Anxiety disorders can also affect the friends and family. Friends and family feel hopeless. They feel as they can’t do anything to help them. With a pre-screening, it can help more people become aware with anxiety disorders. More people really should know about anxiety and the effect it has on people. Anxiety can affect so many people around you. A big amount of people in some of my classes don’t know much about anxiety. Therefor, if UK does a pre-screening about it more people will have learned a bit more about it. With pre-screening, people will learn a little bit about anxiety disorders, but with the other solutions they can learn even more.

For this blog post I have to talk about my group’s proposal. Our main idea for the proposal is the difference between being anxious and having actual anxiety. Some people get very anxious and nervous before something important like an exam or talking in front of the class and they think have an anxiety disorder, but most of the time they don’t. For instance, I get anxious in those situations, but I don’t actually have an anxiety disorder. Anxiety is a normal emotion in some cases. Then there are other cases where it isn’t. I know someone who has anxiety and they don’t want to do things most of the time. Some of the solutions my group came up with is “prescreening”, ads/posters, seminars, and having counseling centers go to different classes and talk to them. With the “prescreening” it would be something like what UK does with the sexual harassment thing. UK has students watch videos and answer questions about sexual harassment, me and my group feel as UK should maybe do the same thing with anxiety and depression. Also posters should be hung up about anxiety disorders. We feel as UK should do seminars about anxiety disorders. Also talk about the difference between having anxiety every now and then and actually having an anxiety disorder. The research I did for my rhetorical analysis showed that most people with anxiety disorders range from the ages 13 to 17. Now studies did show people from the ages 18 to 60 can also have anxiety, but the percentage isn’t as high as it is for 13 to 17 year olds.

Wednesday in class I talked to my peers about my rhetorical analysis. Parker and Avery gave me great feedback. Though, they gave me feedback, they mostly said that my rhetorical analysis was almost there. They said I just need to add a few more details and it will be complete. Most of the feedback was helpful. The most helpful advice I got from my two people was to reference the sources that I got the information from. Another idea that was helpful was to give more evidence to support my claims. Parker told me to try looking up information in pop culture about my stakeholders. I really thought that was a great idea. Also Parker said to reference more of the words in my last visual image. I thought they would make my analysis stronger. After considering all the information I decided to use all the information. They information they gave me could make my rhetorical analysis stronger. Right now it’s okay, but with a few more details I cold make it extremely better. First, I will go through my analysis and change any grammatical or spelling errors. Second, I will make my analysis have paragraphs. Then, I will go to the websites and reference my sources. After that, I will go to the pop culture website and look up information to help support my evidence. Next, I will go to my images and talk about the visual elements in the second one. Then, I will go to my last image and talk about how the different words in the picture all tie together.

My topic is abut anxiety and whether people actually have it or think they do, but actually don’t.

Should people use Juul’s or no?

https://truthinitiative.org/news/6-important-facts-about-juul

As I was going through my peer’s blogs, I noticed Chase’s blog about juul’s. Many of my peers use them and they seem so addictive that I decided to do my second blog post over that topic. Also so I can learn more information about this new “trend”. I feel as people shouldn’t use juul’s. Here are six facts about juul’s that most people should know. According to Truth Initiative, one juul pod contains about 20 cigarettes worth of nicotine. About 200 puffs is equal to smoking a whole pack of cigarettes. Nearly 1 in 5 students between the ages of 12 and 17 have seen juul’s used in schools. The majority of the youth users of juul’s are misinformed about the dangers of it. In a survey done at the University of Michigan more than 40,000 students believed they were vaping only the flavoring, not the nicotine. Truth Initiative surveyed a national sample of more than 1,000 12 to 17-year old’s in April of 2018. In this survey they found that 74% of the teens got a juul at a store or a retail outlet. In that same survey, 52% of 12 to 17-year old’s say they received a juul from a friend or family member. In that same survey, 6% of the 12 to 17-year old’s say they bought one online. According to a social media account, they are so many new pod systems a day that they can’t review all of them. The Food and Drug Administration has taken steps regarding the juul. This includes issuing warning letters to retailers who are selling to minors, making Juul Lab turn over documents related to marketing, health effects, and use among youths, and removing certain juul flavors. Everyone should read the facts before doing something so addictive.

Should Trump end the government shutdown?

Some people say yes and say people no. Well I believe that Trump should end the shutdown. There are some many reasons, but they are three that I would like to point out. One reason is so many people are not working so economic growth is slowly decreasing. Another reason is companies aren’t working so they can’t make sure everything is okay. The last reason is the government is inflicting lasting damage. With the government being shutdown businesses aren’t making any money and if they don’t make money then they can’t make more products. Also schools are being affected because they aren’t getting their fruits and vegetables since businesses are shutdown right now. With no products then people who can afford it won’t be able to buy anything if there isn’t anything to buy. For the second reason, if they government continues this shutdown then the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) won’t be able to check our food or medicines to make sue everything is okay and nothing bad is in it. For the last reason, the government is inflicting lasting damage like prices are being jacked up on everything from helicopters to IT support. For all these reasons and more, I feel as the government should end the shutdown and let people go back to work. No one is benefiting from this government shutdown. It’s only hurting people and going to effect everyone later in the long run. Hopefully the government shutdown will end soon, and everyone can go back to working.
